The company was founded in 1926, by Messias Baptista, who maintained the management of the company until 1973. The Administration of the Messias Caves is still carried out today, by the descendants of the Messias family. Since the foundation Messias has produced and marketed wines from the main demarcated regions: Dão, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beiras and Port. The company is also recognized for the high quality of its natural sparkling wines and spirits. The headquarters of MESSIAS is located in Mealhada, a small town in the Bairrada region, where the company has 160 hectares of vineyards, 70 hectares of which are used to produce the prestigious wines of Quinta do Valdoeiro. In Ferradosa, in the Douro valley, it has 200 hectares, 130 hectares of which are occupied by vines, for the production of Port and Douro wines Quinta do Cachão.

DESCRIPTION
Wine with a good evolution of the reduction aromas, with elegance and wineiness. The ripe fruit stands out, with notes of wild fruits with an emphasis on blackberry, in the mouth its whole category is confirmed with a prolonged aftertaste.

WINEMAKING PROCESS
Fermented wine with partial destemming at a controlled temperature (24-28ºC) when the must reaches the desired sweetness value, fermentation is interrupted by the addition of brandy (77%), later aging in oak wood, in the warehouses in Vila Nova de Gaia until bottled, between the 2nd and 3rd year, after being approved.
